12th July 2026 –
Held on the grounds of St Mels College in Longford town. Giving a different backdrop to a collection of Old School and New School rides. As you walk up the main drive into the school, sitting outfront of the old school building front you are greated with a selection of cars, with some high standing cars sitting up on some podiums. This year the first car you are greated with was this unbelievable R34 GTR Australian Import. Fully built with 1000+BHP in an unsual for a GTR candy apple red paint! Not surprising this also won car of the show! The finish and the attention to detail was on another level.
Southern Ireland Shows tend to be fairly Jap scene heavy, and Old School New School was no different. Ranging from the show winning R34 above right down to Micras, and everything in between, though as always the VAG groups do have a fair showing, as well as the Ford guys always put on a decent display of some Classic RS models. Again we had another cracking weather for the show, which thankfully we have had a good run of this year! so alot of suncream and ice cream was used.
There is always a few things to do and see rather than the cars, Guess the car, and guess how long it runs, The Guess the car always gets alot of interest in our group with trying to work out what the car was before being crushed, our group this year also had a good nosy at it and pretty much nailed the guesses and had it down to a few select years, being a VW it was definetly in their wheelhouse. One of the other activities being Guess how long it runs, which they take the fulids out of a car, and let it run, until it gives up.
Drift cars ususally have a good showing also at the event, as well as some supercars, you definetly wont get bored walking round the show with a couple of like minded friends, which for us makes a great weekend away that we usually do. Another one we will hopefully return to next year with next years date announced as 11th July 2027, its already on our calendar.
